This workshop is MANDATORY for Senior Design Students (planning to enroll in FTT 451 Spring 2023) but is open to all Apparel, Textile, and Product Development students.

Whether your dream is to become the next hot designer, develop your own clothing line or style, or produce a professional fashion show, this workshop encourages students to explore their ideas from brainstorming to final concepts for fashion design and merchandising. It’s a foundational workshop that aims to train individuals to think as creative designers and leaders in the fashion industry.

CONCEPT / BRAINSTORMING

  • Translating concepts into wearable ideas

  • Theme overview 

    • Abstract/mission statement intro

    • Round table discussion

  • Brainstorming activities

  • Design ideas & journal

  • Presentation examples

  • First draft of mood board

  • 30 thumbnail designs

  • Customer profile

NOV 12TH
RUNWAY WORKSHOP/DAY 2

TECH 160 | 10:00AM - 1:00PM

LECTURE / CONCEPT REVEAL

  • Presenting individual concepts to the group

  • PowerPoint presentation on developing in depth customer profile and curating the perfect mood board for their theme.

  • Students share their “abstract mission statement” and concept with how it relates to the theme of RUNWAY.

  • Finalizing the collections and planning for construction

  • Fabric, Colors and finishings

  • Pattern development strategy

  • Preparing for the final presentation
