Q&A with Alyssa Daniels
What is your collection about?
My collection brings light to the topic of mental health. Finding the support to help deal with feelings like depression and anxiety is hard especially for those who do not have the resources available around them. The collection contains garments that can be worn for outside activities because participating in those activities can give a sense of clarity for someone who needs it.
How did you use voices in your collection?
My collection is for those who feel as though they can not talk to anybody about how they feel or voice their concerns and bottle up their emotions.
Have you had to pivot and change your designs?
I have had to pivot my designs due to the lack of resources available for me during these trying times but just a few minor things. How do you think the fashion industry can improve? Just by simply implementing sustainable to help the world we live in moving towards the ideal eco-friendly goal in fashion.
What are some of your favorite designers, fashion writers, stylist, photographers, etc.?
I am really into Virgil Abloh’s work and Kanye West. How will Covid-19 affect the future of fashion? Covid- 19 may cause more designers to turn to a digital platform to display their work such as shows or just a general display of their creativity.
Have you been able to keep in touch with your creative intuition while coping with Covid? Actually, yes! Being stuck at home has forced me to finish projects that I have started and never had the time to finish and start new projects listed on my vision board Where do you see yourself with in fashion as your ideal job? I would love to work along side with a designer and be apart of the design process or the styling aspect of it.
